a workshop for rehabilitation health care professionals

Course content will include:

  • why clinicians should be involved in research
  • how to formulate a research question
  • selecting the appropriate methodology for the research project
  • ethical issues in research
  • preparing research for presentation/publication

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and workshop their own research ideas.

Professor Penn, the chair of the discipline of Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of the Witwatersrand, has been given an A rating by the National Research Foundation.  She has published extensively in the areas of adult neurology, sign language and health communication.  She regularly teaches courses in both ethics and research across the rehabilitation disciplines, and has supervised hundreds of research reports.  Mr Fridjhon is a senior lecturer in the school of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of the Witwatersrand.
